Silver Medal - 2023, San Francisco Chronicle
In French, Vin Gris, Grey Wine, is a simple term for a light yet complex dry pale pink rosé wine.
Tasting Highlights
- Dry, unoaked pale rosé
- Bright aromas of orange peel, raspberries, and watermelon
- Tangy, juicy acidity, subtle minerality
- Light body, refreshing and complex finish
Food Pairing Notes
Perfect by itself as a refreshing apéritif, the wonderful aromas and sharp acidity bring great versatility with acidic and light fatty food, like tomatoes, avocados, and pimento-based dishes, especially with seafood, eggs, charcuterie, pasta, and poultry. Try it with:
- Summer salads with heirloom tomatoes or an upscale Hawaiian Poke or Salade Niçoise
- Guacamole, creamy hummus, and Romesco dishes
- Ceasar's salads or chicken tacos
- An elevated version of a grilled cheese and ham sandwich
- Light pasta salads or sushi
- Veggie pizza
- Grilled and sautéed seafood, especially wild salmon, tuna, and shrimp.
- Classic brunch fares, such as smoked salmon egg Benedict with hollandaise sauce, cheesy frittatas, or omelets
- Best greens and vegetables: avocado, heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, green peas, asparagus, chickpeas
Winemaker’s notes
Head Winemaker Brian Hosmer and his talented cellar team artfully craft our sustainably-grown fruit into an array of wines to charm every palate. Only carefully selected grapes are used for our Proprietor's Reserve label. The Pinot Noir grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed with minimal skin contact. The result is a clear pale pink juice, fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures, with minimal lees contact, to preserve the wine's fresh and fruity character.
Serving suggestions
Best served chilled at 45–50 °F. It’s not necessary to decant.
